Our Story

It all began over a simple lunch.

The casual chat quickly turned somber as we gasped in shared shock: “Did you hear the news about the mother and infant who died by suicide?”

Our hearts absolutely broke. One life lost is far too many, but the thought of a mother and her child losing their lives, that was truly unbearable.

It got us thinking: how can we better support parents going through postpartum? We know from our own postpartum journeys that despite our clinical knowledge and strong support system, the struggle of parenthood is real.

We couldn’t ignore the needs we saw in the news, our work and personal communities. And so, with a desire to support the mental wellbeing of parents, we started Kindred Haven.

Kindred Haven provides mental health support for parents through evidence-based workshops, psychotherapy and community circles. We believe that when parents are supported, children and families thrive.
